literary cotswolds
From Chaucer to Jilly Cooper
A scoot through many literary connections from Tolkein to Thomas the Tank Engine, via a medievel poet and today’s queen of sagas. Stories of story-writers and where they lived or visited, along an inventive pathway.
We mingle with Lewis Carroll, Laurie Lee, Jane Austen and Nancy Mitford and many others in a light-hearted tour taking in literary giants and lesser figures, including the most famous writer you’ve never heard of. We discover their Cotswold experiences and enjoy brief excerpts from some of their writings.
The talk is fun on its own, and will serve for some as an introduction to new works and authors. There are occasional excerpts, intriguing tales, plus great fun in seeing how each writer links to the next in a variety of quirky ways.
